Mary is a deep thinker, innovator, engager and, perhaps most importantly, an outstanding ‘enthuser’. Change is about tapping into the hearts of people and not just their minds, and Mary excels at this. Through her presence, story-telling and story-sharing, Mary unleashes people’s passion and desire for positive change. And that unleashed passion and desire creates results. Thank you Mary!
Mary is one of the best gardeners of innovation I know! She has an innate ability to engage others rapidly, regardless of their point of view – whether in a group setting or one-to-one. She creates an environment of trust that respects differing ideas, engendering open and free discussion. She fertilises the ground for the growth of new ideas. Many times, I have observed Mary guide polarised individuals and groups to embrace a new approach with a strong sense of ownership and the motivation to drive things forward. That’s how real change happens!
Mary facilitated a Compassion Lab for 35 Senior Allied Health Leaders in Victoria from a diverse range of backgrounds, services and settings in March 2017. Mary quickly established a collaborative, open forum of sharing and deep learning, with even the initially more sceptical participants fully participating in the thinking, creating and designing that the workshop brought to developing individuals’ understanding and appreciation of their personal skills, and areas for greater focus in development.
Feedback from the Compassion Lab was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants reporting being inspired, feeling more confident, feeling more able to prevent burn-out and being deeply satisfied.
I would highly recommend Mary’s approach to other leaders wishing to lead and foster a culture change in their organisation
